Meli's Piano Rectial

Last Sunday, Melissa had her piano studio's recital at the local Methodist church. She only teaches a few people, so we were able to keep it small and special for everyone. Being a Christmas recital, I decided to try something totally crazy. I made my first foray into trying to buy clothes for my wife. I presented her with an early Christmas present of a dress and all the accessories for her to wear to the recital. She did a great job of playing her jazz version of Jingle Bells. She has always had a struggle with jazz, so I was so proud of her.

Nathan even got in the act a little, with people presenting him with Christmas gifts. He loves to play with the alphabet blocks he got from one student.

A lot of catch up posts

Ok. So its been a while and I'm sure that those that read this are starting to get antsy at no new pictures of our sweet little boy. Let's just say that things have been a little crazy lately with a crawling almost one year old and keeping our business running. So, instead of doing one big "How the last month has gone" post, I'm going to try and do a bunch of short catch up posts.

Here comes the first one. For some reason, our little angel has decided that his most comfortable sleeping position is to have his diaper butt stick straight up in the air. See what I mean...

Nate through the Months

When you work with kids, like we do, you notice the way they change over time. The thing is, it's hard to notice change with your own child. So I put this together and noticed the way our son has changed over the last nine months.

Jeremy's Wedding

Last night, we loaded up the car and headed back to Deep East Texas to see Melissa's brother Jeremy our new sister-in-law Sharayah's wedding. Nathan did so good at the ceremony, staying quiet through pretty much the whole thing. Of course, the constant stream of Cheerios might have had something to do with that. :) Then at the reception, Nate was just the life of the party with everyone just loving him.

Water Baby

So, recently we have discovered that our baby is a water baby. This kid takes to any kind of water we can but in front of him. Yesterday, we were running a bath water and he tried to jump out of my hands and dive in. Last week we went to the city swimming pool with him and he kicked and splashed until he wore himself out.

Two Glorious Years!

Has it really been two years now since this scene? It's been amazing to see the way our lives have changed and grown together over the last two years. Now, with the addition of a third member to our family, this anniversary takes on a completely new meaning. Thank you to everyone who has enriched our lives as we celebrate this 2nd anniversary!

A Puffed Up Baby

Nathan is beginning to discover the joys of solid foods, especially Gerber cereal puffs. The big thing with him, though, is that he hasn't figured out that only one or two puffs can go into his little mouth at a time.... not 10. So we keep finding them attached to him in odd places, like his cheek, feet, and all over his little legs.

One of our taekwondo students had a graduation party for her home school graduation. Nathan got the chance to go to his first party and even got to dance with Mommy.

A Day at the Zoo

Nate got his first experience around animals (other than Hugo the hedgehog) when we went to the Ft. Worth Zoo. Little guy had a ball! He got to look around and see all kinds of things, but his favorite part was the carousel. He squealed and smiled the whole time that thing was moving.

Easter Sunday

So, our first Easter Sunday with Nathan. We got him up and dressed, then gave him his first Easter basket. Sure, the eggs didn't have candy in them, but they did have a new pacifier which he loves! :)

We went off to church where they had an egg hunt after the service was over. Nathan "found" one which took him over a minute to decide it was his and pick it up.

We finished the day be having Melissa parents over for their first Easter Dinner away from their own home in 30+ years. Then we had to have some fun and make him become the Easter Bunny. You'll see that in the later pictures.

So, when did Gerber come up with feet flavored food? Nathan has decided that his feet actually taste good. Every chance he gets, those feet go right to the mouth.

Reading Time

Our little Nathan is beginning to take a gaze at books. He loves to look at the pictures and hear Daddy read the stories. Last night, as we were reading to him, he began to talk to us and giggle at the pictures.

Food Time!

Even if it just rice, getting to feed Nathan something other than a bottle is so incredible! Mommy and Daddy both have had fun getting him to eat. No problems at all, except that yesterday he got hold of the bowl and tried to launch it across the kitchen. :)

The New Trick

It's funny how a baby can pick things up and then start showing them off to everyone. So now, we have this face that can only be described by showing the pictures. He will suck his lower lip in and then "pop" it out. Now he shows it to everyone.

Future Champ

This weekend, we had professional photographers come in to take the pictures of our taekwondo students. Well, we couldn't pass up the opportunity to show off our cute son. So Melissa made a little uniform from a pattern and I iron on transfered all the logos to give Nate his uniform. It says "Future Champ" on the back and has his name, just like our leadership uniforms.
